Dear supporters of Hand Papermaking,

We wanted to share an important update about recent changes in our organization's leadership.

Rosa Chang, Hand Papermaking's executive director since 2024, recently made the difficult decision to step down from her role for health reasons. We are all grateful for Rosa's dedication to Hand Papermaking and for her work in helping extend the reach of the organization to new audiences and supporters. Rosa's time with us, while briefer than we all had hoped, brought new energy and ideas that impacted our mission and continued our organization's ongoing development as an innovative and impactful small arts nonprofit. We offer her our best wishes as she focuses on her health and recovery.

During this transition, former executive director Michael Fallon has agreed to return temporarily as an interim director, thus ensuring continuity in our programs and operations. Michael brings more than 15 years of experience as an executive director for nonprofit arts organizations (7+ of these with Hand Papermaking), and he is committed to celebrating our past accomplishment in this, our 40th anniversary, year and to maintaining the organization's focus on preserving, informing, inspiring, and celebrating the transformative act of making paper by hand.

Over the coming months, Hand Papermaking's Board will conduct a thorough search to identify a permanent executive director who can build on the strong foundation that its past directors, board members, staff, and community of supporters have helped establish. We will keep you informed as this process unfolds.
